Welcome to the first post of my thirty day commitment! I've joined NaBloPoMo which stands for National Blog Posting Month. To join, you just have to put up a blog post every day in the month of November. I haven't been posting much lately, so I've got a bunch saved up to show and tell you. Keep your eyes tuned to this spot for daily crafty entertainment all month! Today I'm featuring the work of a talented Ebay seller: donavain at Country Crafted Costumes.

We wanted Gigi to be a raccoon for Halloween because of this incident where she earned her nickname little raccoon. Plus, we're looking down the barrel of 10+ years of Princess costumes here, so we have to mix it up while we still have a choice! This is the only raccoon costume on the whole internet that was even vaguely cute and boy howdy was it cute! Here's the little raccoon herself:

Loved it! But...crocheted mask too? How long will that stay on?


Well, it's still on! That's a good sign! Check out the super cute crocheted tail!


Yay! She kept it on long enough to get the photo with the waffle! I especially overbrowned one so it could go with her costume (see "the incident" above).


Like I said, the mask didn't last long! Here she is in her best 'raccoon reaching up to knock over the garbage can' pose. Okay, so she didn't really "pose", being 22 months and all, but it really looks like it!

Today I am Loving...

These guys! They are just so cute and sweet. I want to hang out with them! And I love the song. It's an homage to "Glee" which I don't watch, but this video makes me smile every time I watch it!

Quilt Festival Entry - Finn's Quilt!

Hello All and welcome to my blog! I do everything by hand, I don't own a machine. So feel free to browse the completed quilt gallery on the left side of my blog for more hand made goodness!

For the Fall Quilt Festival, I'm featuring a quilt I made last month for my friend and boss, Angela (no blog). It's an all Heather Ross wonky square quilt, with gnome cornerstones and a pieced back. Above is Finn with the quilt!

And in case you're wondering who's back there holding it, it's this guy:


When I was quilting it, I got the idea to put in a small quilting detail on every block. Here I circled the mom and boy (that's Finn and Angela), the girl on top of the VW (that's Avery) and the man throwing the ball to the dog (that's Scott and Bailey the dog). The whole family! On this one, I highlighted a fish - can you see the highlighting?


And here, a gnome.


It's hard to see, but on this one I wrote the baby's name. I quilted it instead of putting on letters like I usually do, since I'm now superstitious about "shouting" the baby's name on a quilt until he's older. This is more like a whisper so you don't alert bad luck that he's here. Click the photo to read the name.


Here's a closeup of the back so you can see the quilting better. Thanks to Chen for the idea to add white strips around the brown. I didn't add a detail to the ones on the back as they were quilted over.

Gigi is here in her blue and green dress my mother made her to introduce the green and blue blocks! I showed the pink and red ones the last few days for the quilt I'm making for myself, in case you missed it. Which one is your favorite today???
