Giveaway Day!

Update: The random number generator at random.org picked #32 - Tara from Crafting Into Sanity! Congrats to Tara, the geese will be winging their way to you tomorrow.

Tara said:
I am now a follower. I would love this giveaway. I have several friends who are pregnant so I would love to make this one for them.

Happy Giveaway Day!

Since I am the home of all things baby quilt, today I'm giving away a whole baby quilt! (some assembly required) The gaggle of geese you see above are just waiting to fly to your home to be joined into rows and backed with one of the two fabrics below - just add batting and you're there!

The 66 geese measure 4"X6.5" and are all hand pieced, since I don't own a machine.

Just line them up into rows and sew. Here, I've even drawn you a quilt map! Aren't I nice?

If you want to make it a larger quilt, feel free to add sashing between the rows, or wide borders, but then you won't get to back it with one of these beauties.

The winner just needs to tell me if they want the boy backing or the girl backing, choose one. Both are large enough to back the quilt in the quilt map. The pink is flannel, the blue is not.

Wanna win? Just subscribe to my blog. Then leave me a comment telling me so and saying who you would give the baby quilt to if you won. Only one comment per person, and make sure I can get your email address.

That's it! Happy commenting!

PS: If you don't win, you can still make your own flock of geese with this super easy Twiddletails tutorial. Just cut one rectangle and two squares and two minutes later, your goose is cooked. Try it!

Anyone Want Some Scraps???

Ok, I'm finally ready to admit it. I have wayyyyyy too many scraps. I never thought it would come to this. I really didn't. I was actually buying scraps for a while on etsy, but now it's come to the point where I have too many even for me. The SEVEN, yes, seven buckets above are full to bursting with scraps and I want to give some away.

The ones I'm giving away are from these four buckets, my "regular" quilt store fabric scraps. I'm a scrapaholic, but I'm not crazy, I can't part with my all-designer scrap buckets! Three of the buckets are quilting cottons and the fourth is all flannel (the one second from the right with the suns/moons).

Here's all you have to do to get scraps: Leave a comment on this post stating your intent to send a request and I will send you my address. Next, send me the price of a flat rate box and your address and I will stuff it bursting full of scraps and send it to you. That's it. Everything must go! If you're in the U.S., a small flat rate box costs five bucks to send. If you're in Canada or Mexico, it's $11. Any other country is $13. I anticipate being able to send everyone scraps that sends me a request, but if I run out, I'll send your money back, obviously. I love being in a community where people trust each other. Ok ya'll, let the commenting begin!

Sashay Shantay

Here is my grumpy little dress model showing off her winnings!  Thanks again to brownpaperpackages for the gorgeous dress!  She saw me open it and demanded to put it on right away. After which, she immediately got grumpy.  Almost two year olds are always frustrated about one thing or another!

Maybe petting a kitty will cheer her up!  Nah, probably not.

I also got fabric in the mail!  Yay!  My first batch of Red Letter Day, plus birds.  Annie got it for me as a thank you for fixing her resume.  I do that on the side if you need me to look at yours too.

Have a great day!

What Did You Win?

Did you win anything in the Sew Mama Sew giveaways??? I won three things! I'm so happy. I entered almost every single one they had, like 200 giveaways!

The first is this gorgeous dress for Gigi from brownpaperpackages! I love the pieced star detail at the waist. I'm going to put it in the drawer and she will love it next year!

The second is this super cute rag softie named "Flakie" (as in snowflake) from Eerika at ragpets! Check out the sweet description of him on her blog. She describes how he can't wait for Christmas and then shows him tucked in bed and says, "Since going to bed early makes Santa come quicker, Flakey has donned his PJs and is going to sleep now in order to make the presents come faster." So cute!!! And now he's all mine - well, my two year old's anyway. He's flying in all the way from Finland to Texas. I should buy him a cowboy hat!

The third thing I won is this sweet little lunch bag from adelaidelemonade! I love that Farmer's Market flower and of course the Mendocino kelp stripe and seahorses. It's about 7"X8" so the perfect size to take my lunch in every day. If you want to make one for yourself, she has a tutorial here. You can make one too and we can be twins!

Edited to say: Wow, I was calling it an "easy" tutorial before but I just really looked at it and I can't believe the amount of work that went into this bag! I take it back, it wasn't easy! I appreciate it more now.

Thank you all and thank you too Sew Mama Sew!

And if you'd like to win some stuff, you still have a chance! Hop on over to Sew-Fantastic! She's only on the seventh day of Christmas, and besides, you can enter the first six right now if you want. Check it out!

Do You Love American Jane?

I also got these guys - love the soft colors in the big dots and the gradations of pink in the small.

And guess what? I picked up a straight quarter for you! Above is Peas and Carrots American Jane and it's all for you. All you have to do is subscribe to my feed and leave a comment. If you already are a follower, just leave a comment saying that. That's all! I'll pick a winner on Monday at around 2:00. Good luck!

What a fun giveaway! Thanks for the chance...Id love to see something in plush my daughter would draw!!!

Congrats Jenny, have your daughter draw something and email it to me right away!

I had such a nice time reading all of your wonderful, sweet comments, especially Kathie who really touched me when she said her favorite post was the Gigi waffle post. That's my favorite too! That really was super super sweet. I was so touched I decided to give away the fabric as well. The second winner is SewCalGal!

Congratulations on your blogging Anniversary. You really do have a creative blog that I enjoy reading.Your give-away idea is certainly fun. And very nice of you to do. I'm sure whomever wins will enjoy your prizes. I know I would. As I love to make charity quilts for kids, I'd be happy to win any fabric that would help to make such quilts. And, as I'm working on a couple of different fundraisers, I think one of your cute handmade toys would also be great in a gift basket. So, I am very flexible - if I win, you decide.Keep quilting, sewing & blogging!

Congrats winners! I wish I could give everyone a prize, I really do. I heart you all!

It's my 97th post and also my first blogaversary! It was on August 22 of last year that I posted Gigi's Heart of My Heart quilt as my very first post. It took a while to get readers, but now I've got a few (that's you)!

Of course I have to have a giveaway to celebrate! Here's the catch: the only ones eligible to win will be those of you who have commented at least once on my blog in the last year. If this is your first time here, have fun looking around and come back next time I have a giveaway! This one is exclusively to thank my loyal blog commenters/readers.

Since this giveaway is for a small group of people, I'm making the prize personal as well. Whomever wins, I will let you pick your prize!

Choice #1: A medium amount of regular quilt store fabric from my stash in your choice of color way/theme (sorry, I just can't part with my premium designer stash!). I have tons of kitties and doggies, Asian, novelty, repros, flannel, etc. All from an actual quilt store, not bargain basement.

Choice #2: A stuffed toy I will make just for you. Check out the stuffed toys i've blogged to see examples. Heck, i'll even make your toy from your own personal sketch and put your name on the back too! Such a deal, I tell ya!

So ok, start yer commenting now loyal commenters! I'll draw a winner Monday night after 7pm.

We have a Winner!

Would you believe I forgot dress #6 yesterday??? My favorite one, too! Anyone know the answer to this one? The skirt is Heather Bailey Freshcut Paisley, but what is the top? I'll give a prize of their choosing to whomever names it first! Edited to say: free indeed won this little giveaway! It was City Girl by Kitty Yoshida. To tell the truth, I actually didn't know who it was :) so thanks freeindeed!

Congratulations Kathie Comfyquilter! With 14 points, you were the runaway winner of the contest! Here is the winning comment:

"Hi, this is my first visit to your blog, and I picked a good day! Happy birthday to your Mom, and your daughter is adorable, as are all of the dresses. You stumped me on Dress#1, I'm afraid, but I love the dress. Is that an original design of your mother's? I love the little cap sleeves.

Dress # 2 is Sole' Flower Stripe by Valori Wells. Dress #3 is also Sole' by VW, and Amy Butler Martini. Dress #4 is Joel Dewberry Sparrows from the Aviary line, and Amy Butler Fresh Poppies from Midwest Modern. Dress #5 is a batik, and a novelty fabric."Delete

Good job! You really know your fabrics! Here are the answers:

Dress #1 - Alexander Henry Bangle Dot
Dress #2 - Flower Stripe from the Sole collection by Valori Wells
Dress #3 - Flower Stripe by Valori Wells and Amy Butler Martini in gold
Dress #4 - Joel Dewberry Sparrows and Amy Butler Fresh Poppies
Dress #5 - The top is a batik and the bottom is Asian or a novelty
Second place went to Brown Robin with 9 points. Honorable mention to freeindeed who started from scratch trying to look these up on the internet and came in third with 8 points!

I really want to thank you all for the sweet comments about my mom and daughter and the great birthday wishes you sent our way. Thanks ya'll!

Giveaway Contest! Happy Birthday Mom!

This was my mother, Margot and me (with my baby cousin) in 1974 at age 30.

And this is my mom 35 years later! Not bad, huh? Don't you hate when your mom is cuter for her age than you are for your age??? That's okay mom, I don't hold it against you. So anyway, happy birthday! In honor of your 65th, I'm having a giveaway of pre-cut Amy Butler triangles!

You will win at least 75 triangles of EACH of four Amy Butler fabrics (I didn't count). Plus, I'm throwing in about 75 slightly larger triangles in various shades of white on white. You could make a heck of a cute table runner or baby quilt, especially if you add more of your own white. You could make something great, like this or this. The 375 triangles i'm giving away will make at least 187 squares at 2 1/2 inches square when sewn together, so a 2 inch finished size. The fabrics are from this quilt and this quilt. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but i'm also going to throw in a special surprise of the winner's choosing! Could be a vintage feedsack, could be fat quarters, could be a soft toy, no one knows!

I present - the Cavalcade of Dresses!!! Here are the rules: This is a contest for fabric lovers. You must name as many of the fabrics and designers used in the below dresses as you can. My mother made all of the below dresses for Gigi, so it's a tribute to her work! I will not approve any comments with guesses in them until the contest is over so no one can see your answers. On Saturday at noon I will look over the comments and count how many fabrics each person got right, then select a winner from the group with the highest number correct. Want extra entries? If you become a follower, add me to your google reader, or add me to the side of your blog as a clickable link, I will give you two extra correct points for each! Just comment to let me know. So even if you aren't a fabric expert you can at least get a few points there, plus you can probably get dress #5. Ready? Go!

Ok, dress #1. What's the name of the fabric and the designer? 2 points. (Click any of these photos to enlarge.)

Supercute dress #2 - What's the name of the fabric and the designer? 2 points.

Dress #3 with satin flower pocket - What are the names and designers of both fabrics? Hint, the red one is the same as the dress above! 4 points.

Dress #4 - What are the names and designers of both fabrics? 4 points.

And dress #5 - Alright, on this one I don't expect you to know the names or designers. On this one, just give me a general fabric category for each of the two. An example of a fabric category would be "30s reproductions". 2 points.

You can also tell me which one is your favorite or say happy birthday to my mom. Enjoy!

WhimsicalRoad Made Me a Weiner!

I must have entered a hundred giveaways on SewMamaSew giveaway day and did manage to win one pretty thing! Yay! I really wanted to win this dress for Miss Gigi so I was very happy. The birdie print is oh-so-cute! Click to enlarge if you want to see it.

Miss G was not cooperating this morning when I was playing photographer, so no full on shots that don't feature fussing. She is already into the terrible twos at only 18 months. She'll take any excuse to throw a huge, hysterical fit, complete with throwing herself on the ground. Today, in fact, is the exact day that she turns 18 months old so we're happy to have a 'sort of' birthday present! You can see in the back photo that she still has her baby hair and that her hair glows red in the sun, just like mine!

Thanks so much Whimsical Road. Check out her blog to see the beautiful Amy Butler dress she's featuring today, and her etsy shop to buy one for yourself!

May Day Giveaway! Amy Butler and a Monster

Edited June 1 to Announce Winners!

Wow, thanks to all 911 of you who visited my site for giveaway day!

Melissa has won the monster
Mary (no blog) has won the Amy Butler triangles

Happy Giveaway Day everyone and I'll see you at the next one!

So what am I giving away? Well, first of all, this lovely monster designed and made by yours truly, all by hand, no machines needed. I made him up and I'm giving him away! He can't wait to come and lurk in your closet of the closet of your small friend.

He's just waiting for you to tell him where he's going to live so I can personalize him with his new mommy or daddy's name! Or, if you want to name your monster, I can sew his OWN name onto his back instead.

Secondly, I'm giving away some pre-cut Amy Butler fabric just itching to be made into a mini-quilt or table runner. There are 45 triangles of each fabric, totaling 180 triangles! The fabrics are from this quilt and this quilt, and make a 2 1/2" square when sewn together (so a 2" finished block size in a quilt). There are enough to make almost 90 squares! Or, you could pair them with white or another color and stretch them out into a larger quilt like redpepperquilts did.

To enter, simply leave me a comment on this post telling me what your favorite quilt on my site is. The main quilts are all lined up on the left side of this blog, and are all clickable to read more. That's it! Happy Giveaway Day!
