Munki in the Middle!

So...those munkis I got in the mail yesterday were burning a hole in my, uh, stash closet (?) and I had to do something with them right away! I wanted them to be in MY quilt which I'm currently sashing, so I went through the pink/red blocks to see which ones I didn't like that also had fabric that would match my new munkis. Since it's a charm quilt, I can only use each fabric one time, so somebody had to go.

I really didn't like the block on the right that I had made. It's hard to tell in the photo but the saturation of the bright yellow and the pink clashed with the super bright white of the flower fabric. Bleah. Aw yeah, these kitties look right at home in their matching frame. The saturated pinks match perfectly.

I also found this block on the left that I don't hate, but it's just too much busyness going on at once. I was going for birds/trees but it's just too much. Look at how sweet and cozy my bicycles look in there instead. So calm and frame-y. Sigh.

So do you think the new blocks are an improvement or a step down???

Hope you're enjoying my National Blog Posting Month daily post! Stay tuned for a post every day in November.

WhimsicalRoad Made Me a Weiner!

I must have entered a hundred giveaways on SewMamaSew giveaway day and did manage to win one pretty thing! Yay! I really wanted to win this dress for Miss Gigi so I was very happy. The birdie print is oh-so-cute! Click to enlarge if you want to see it.

Miss G was not cooperating this morning when I was playing photographer, so no full on shots that don't feature fussing. She is already into the terrible twos at only 18 months. She'll take any excuse to throw a huge, hysterical fit, complete with throwing herself on the ground. Today, in fact, is the exact day that she turns 18 months old so we're happy to have a 'sort of' birthday present! You can see in the back photo that she still has her baby hair and that her hair glows red in the sun, just like mine!

Thanks so much Whimsical Road. Check out her blog to see the beautiful Amy Butler dress she's featuring today, and her etsy shop to buy one for yourself!

I Made Toys!

Look at me! I'm a toymaker! I didn't know I had it in me. You know, the inspiration from all of you out in the blogging world is really opening me up creatively. I was only a quilter until I started reading blogs and now i've made pot holders and toys too. I'm slowly branching out.

I promised twohippos that since she paid it forward to me with the beautiful apron, I would pay it forward to others by making toys and leaving them for strangers. I chose an easy toy to make from this great tutorial. I love the blog I found it on, mollychicken. I liked that it had some felt and some fabric, plus the interactivity of the baby in the egg in the pouch.

I'm pretty proud of it! It's so cute! Here is the baby out of the pouch...

And here is the baby out of the egg. Well, I loved this little birdy, but she looked pretty lonely sitting there in her tree...

So I made her some family members! I enlarged the pattern and made bigger ones. That's daddy in the blue on the left with Junior in the front carrier, and that's mommy in the middle. I'm going to enlarge the pattern even more and make one medium teddy bear size! I can't seem to stop making these!

The End(s).
